1. About NaijaMingle and these Terms

NaijaMingle is operated by Munar Africa, a business based in Lagos, Nigeria that is currently completing company registration. Munar Africa is not yet an incorporated company, no registration number is claimed, and nothing on this page should be read as describing a limited liability company. Our full street address is available on written request.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of NaijaMingle, including the website, the matchmaking and calling service, the text chat, and any related features we make available (together, the "Service").

NaijaMingle is a free service. We do not currently charge users, sell subscriptions, or process payments. The Service is primarily intended for people in Nigeria, but it is not restricted to Nigeria.

2. Accepting these Terms

Before you enter the chat queue for the first time, NaijaMingle shows you an adults-only gate. You confirm that you are 18 or older and that you accept these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Community Guidelines by selecting the confirmation checkbox. You cannot start a conversation without doing so.

When you confirm, we record which versions of the three documents you accepted, together with the time and an anonymous identifier for your browser session. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth or any government identification.

If we publish a new version of these documents, the gate is shown again before you can start a new conversation, so that you can accept the current version. Continuing to use the Service after a change also constitutes acceptance where the law allows it.

If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use NaijaMingle. If you are under 18, you may not use the Service at all.

3. Who may use NaijaMingle

Age is confirmed by your own declaration at the gate. We do not verify identity or age with documents, and we do not claim to. If we receive a credible report that a user is under 18, we may restrict the anonymous identity involved and preserve the report as a safety record.

  • You must be at least 18 years old. There is no exception, and no parental or guardian consent can make use lawful for a person under 18.
  • You must be legally able to enter into a binding agreement with us, or have any consent required by the law that applies to you.
  • You must not be barred from using the Service under Nigerian law or any other law that applies to you.
  • You must not use the Service from a jurisdiction where the Service or its content would be unlawful.

4. Anonymous access and what it does not mean

You can use NaijaMingle without creating an account, giving an email address, choosing a username or uploading a profile. The Service assigns an anonymous technical identifier to your browser session and a separate identifier to each tab you open. Other users see you only as "Stranger", possibly with an approximate region derived from your network connection.

Anonymous access is not the same as technical untraceability. Our infrastructure processes network and device information needed to deliver the Service, and safety and security records may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy. We may also be required by law to disclose information we hold.

Because there is no account, there is no password reset, no recovery of a session, and no way to prove to us that you are the same person as an earlier visitor. If you clear your browser storage or use a different browser or device, you may appear to us as a new visitor.

5. Random matching, and its limitations

NaijaMingle pairs you with another user who is waiting at roughly the same time. Matching is automated and based on availability and mode, not on compatibility, interests or identity. You may be matched with anyone, including someone whose behaviour you find unpleasant or offensive.

We do not verify the identity, age, location, intentions, statements or conduct of any user. A user's approximate region is estimated from their network connection and can be wrong. We do not carry out background checks and we do not guarantee that any user is who they claim to be, or that anything said in a conversation is true.

We do not guarantee that you will be matched at all, that a connection will succeed, or that video or audio quality will be usable on your device or network.

6. Risks of talking to strangers

Interacting with strangers carries risks that cannot be eliminated by any platform. These include exposure to offensive or unlawful content, emotional manipulation, attempts at fraud or extortion, sexual harassment, and attempts to obtain personal information.

You are responsible for your own decisions about what you share and what you do outside the Service. We do not organise, supervise or endorse meetings between users. If you choose to meet someone in person, you do so entirely at your own risk and should take normal safety precautions.

If you believe you are in immediate danger, contact the Nigerian Police Force or other appropriate emergency services first. Our reporting tools are not an emergency service.

7. Consent, recording, screenshots and distribution

Consent matters in every conversation. You must stop any behaviour that a person asks you to stop, and you must end the conversation when asked. Sexual content, explicit conduct and sexual suggestions require clear, ongoing consent from an adult participant; the absence of a "no" is not consent.

You must not record, capture, stream or distribute another person's image, voice or conversation without their informed permission. Taking screenshots or screen recordings of another user, and sharing them, may be unlawful under Nigerian law and is prohibited by our Community Guidelines.

We do not record video or audio conversations and we do not keep a transcript of chat messages. This does not prevent another participant from recording or screenshotting you. Assume that anything you show or say could be captured by the other person, and behave accordingly.

Never share intimate images with someone you met on NaijaMingle. Distributing or threatening to distribute intimate images without consent is prohibited, may be a criminal offence, and will result in enforcement action if reported to us.

8. Your content and the permission you give us

You keep whatever rights you have in the content you choose to share. You are responsible for it, including ensuring that you have the right to share it and that it does not break the law or these Terms.

To operate the Service, you give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to transmit, route and temporarily process your messages, video and audio for the duration of a conversation. This permission exists only so that the conversation can happen. It does not allow us to publish, sell, or keep your content, and we do not use conversations for advertising or model training.

Messages and media pass through our infrastructure in memory and are not written to our database. Reports are different: if you choose to type a description into a report, that text is stored as part of the safety record described in our Privacy Policy, so do not include more personal detail than is necessary.

9. Prohibited conduct

You must comply with our Community Guidelines, which form part of these Terms. In summary, you must not use the Service to harass, threaten, stalk, bully, sexually exploit or abuse anyone; to involve minors in any sexual or harmful way; to distribute non-consensual intimate imagery; to defraud, scam, blackmail or extort; to impersonate anyone deceptively; to publish someone's personal information without permission; to record or distribute conversations unlawfully; or to manipulate, automate or spam the platform.

You must also not attempt to break, overload, probe or reverse engineer the Service, circumvent rate limits or safety controls, scrape data, or access systems or records you are not authorised to access.

10. Reporting, blocking and moderation

During a conversation you can report the other participant and end the conversation. Reporting sends the reason you select, any description you write, and the minimum technical information needed to identify the conversation to our moderation queue. A report is only shown as submitted once our backend has stored it; if it fails, we tell you so.

Blocking records the other participant's anonymous identifier against yours and disconnects you from the conversation. Our matchmaking service will not pair you with that identifier again. Because users are anonymous, a block cannot prevent a person from returning with a new browser session or a different network, and we do not claim that it does.

Moderation decisions are made by people reviewing reports. We may warn, suspend or ban an anonymous identifier; we may also take no action if a report does not show a breach. We are not obliged to monitor conversations, and we do not review them in real time.

You can appeal an enforcement decision by emailing us at the contact address below, quoting any report reference you were given. Appeals are reviewed by a person.

11. Suspension, restriction and termination

We may restrict, suspend or end your access to the Service, immediately and without prior notice where we consider it necessary, if we believe you have breached these Terms or the Community Guidelines, if we are required to do so by law, or to protect other users, our infrastructure or the public.

Enforcement applies to the anonymous identifier and technical signals available to us. It is not a permanent identity ban, and we do not represent that a restricted person cannot return.

You may stop using the Service at any time. Because there is no account, there is nothing to cancel. If you want the records associated with your anonymous identifier deleted, follow the process in our Privacy Policy.

12. Third-party infrastructure and service interruptions

NaijaMingle depends on third-party providers for hosting, database services, edge networking, bot protection and media relay. Outages, latency, regional restrictions or changes at those providers can interrupt the Service. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions beyond what the law requires.

We may change, suspend, limit or discontinue any part of the Service, including features, modes or availability in a region. We may also apply maintenance mode, which stops new conversations without ending conversations already in progress.

Video and audio calling depends on your browser, device, camera and microphone permissions, and on your network. A relay service is used when a direct connection cannot be established, and it may be unavailable or rate-limited.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.

We do not warrant the conduct, identity, statements or intentions of any user, and we do not warrant that content encountered on the Service will be lawful, accurate or appropriate.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including rights under Nigerian consumer protection law and liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Munar Africa is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

This includes loss arising from the conduct of other users, from content encountered during a conversation, from any recording or screenshot made by another participant, from service interruptions, and from your decision to meet or deal with anyone you met through the Service.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, which is currently zero because the Service is free, and (b) the minimum amount required by applicable law.

Nothing in this section limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Nigerian law.

15. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold Munar Africa harmless against claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, content you transmit, or your violation of another person's rights or of applicable law.

This indemnity does not apply to the extent that a claim results from our own breach, negligence or wilful misconduct, and it does not require you to indemnify us for anything that the law does not allow.

16. Intellectual property

The Service, including the NaijaMingle name and marks, the interface, the design system and the underlying software, is owned by Munar Africa or licensed to it. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer or create derivative works from the Service, or use our marks without written permission, except as allowed by law.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

17. Advertising and sponsored content

NaijaMingle is currently free and displays no advertising. We may in future display advertising or sponsored content, including through third-party advertising partners.

Where advertising appears, we will label sponsored content and will not present it as a recommendation from us. We do not endorse advertisers, and any dealings you have with them are between you and them.

We will not use the content of your conversations to target advertising, because we do not keep that content. If we introduce tracking technologies that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update our Privacy Policy.

18. Privacy and data processing

Our Privacy Policy explains what we process, why, how long we keep it and what rights you have. It forms part of these Terms.

In short: we do not ask for your name, email address or date of birth; we do not store raw IP addresses; we derive only a coarse region from your network connection at our edge provider; and we do not record conversations. Report descriptions and legal acceptance records are stored.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, the Privacy Policy or the Community Guidelines. Each document carries a version number and an effective date, and material changes are reflected in a new version.

When a document changes, the adults-only gate is shown again before you can start a new conversation, and your acceptance of the new version is recorded. We do not retroactively mark anyone as having accepted a version they never saw.

If you continue using the Service after a change without accepting the new version, your continued use is subject to the updated document to the extent the law allows.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory protections available to you under the law of your own country of residence are not affected.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue. We will attempt to respond within 30 days.

Subject to any mandatory law, the courts of Nigeria have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service.

21. General

  • Severability: if any provision is found unenforceable, it is limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions stay in force.
  • No waiver: a failure or delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • Entire agreement: these Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • Assignment: you may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours as part of a reorganisation or transfer of the Service, subject to this agreement continuing to bind the recipient.
  • Notices: formal notices to us must be sent to the contact address below. We may give notice through the Service interface.
  • Language: these Terms are written in English, and English is the controlling language.
